Kuan Yin on Dragon, Stone Finish, 9 Inches

This stone statue of Kuan Yin depicts the goddess standing on a dragon. Made of bonded stone, this statue is intricately detailed.

Kuan Yin is the Far Eastern version of Avalokiteshvara. Originally a male figure, Avalokiteshvara became female in China. In some of her forms she carries a child, which relates both to her place as a granter of fertility to women longing for children, and also to her role in facilitating the rebirth of spiritual aspirants into her Pure Land paradise.

The name Guan Yin is short for Guan Shi Yin which means "Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the World," referring to her compassionate attention to beings' sufferings.
