“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. This is true for a person you meet every day—yourself! This guided meditation helps us to empathize with our existential situation as beings doing a difficult thing simply in living a human life.
One thing that makes life unnecessarily hard is causing ourselves to think we’re failing because we assume life should be easy.
Human life is frequently a struggle. We all desire to experience some state of well-being, whether we conceive of that as happiness, or peace, on in other terms. And yet those states of well-being are frequently elusive. We’re all doing a difficult thing in being human.
This guided meditation, led by Bodhipaksa, helps us to empathize with our existential situation as struggling beings, so that we can be more forgiving of ourselves and others, and so that we can offer support, encouragement, and kindness to all — ourselves included.
Through cultivating this perspective, we find that having empathy for ourselves makes it easier for us to find empathy for others.
